The Graduate School One Health Emerging Infectious Diseases (1H-EID) has successfully launched two exciting webinar series that bring together researchers, practitioners, and students around critical health issues and pandemic preparedness.
One Health Research in French Amazonia
Since October, the first series, chaired by Professor Loïc Epelboin (Professor and Hospital Practitioner in the Infectious and Tropical Diseases Unit at Cayenne Hospital), has been exploring the complex interactions between human, animal, and environmental health in the unique context of French Amazonia. We have been privileged to hear fascinating presentations from Professors Maylis Douine, Hatem Kallel, and Roxane Schaub, each offering valuable insights into the interconnected health challenges of this remarkable region.
Social Sciences Perspectives on One Health and Emerging Infectious Diseases
The second series, chaired by Jules Villa (Postdoctoral Researcher at Institut Pasteur), brings an essential social sciences lens to our understanding of emerging infectious diseases. Launched on November 26th, the series opened with a powerful and moving presentation by anthropologist Laëtitia Atlani-Duault, Director of the Ad Memoriam Institute. Her compelling talk presented invaluable research data drawn from the testimonies of COVID-19 victims, paving the way for multidimensional analyses of the 2019 crisis and informing our preparedness for future health emergencies.
Looking Ahead to 2026
Both 1H-EID webinar series will continue throughout 2026, with one to two sessions per month at 12:30 PM Paris time. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to engage with cutting-edge One Health and Emerging Infectious Diseases research from both natural and social sciences perspectives.
We look forward to welcoming you!
